About:

Robert Galvin sketched his first nude at the age of three, improvising from models found in the JC Penney catalog. Robert studied Political Science at Columbia University, received a Masters’ Degree in Medieval History from Fordham University and studied law at Boston College Law School. While working at a law firm in New York City, he began studying figure drawing at the Art Students League, and soon after began painting. Robert paints with oil on canvas or gouache on paper and draws inspiration from the Impressionists, the Fauves, and more modern painters such as Richard Diebenkorn, Milton Avery and Fairfield Porter. His other interests include football, soccer, history, religion, and trivia, most notably as a Jeopardy contestant. Originally from Long Island, he has lived with his wife and son in Bloomfield for over 20 years. He mainly paints from photographs he takes while commuting to New York, or during the course of daily life in New Jersey.
